Mrs. Michele, I don't know if you remember me from the Bentley camp, but Rachel added me a couple of days ago as a friend. Anyway, I just had to say that your paintings are amazing and I really loved looking at your work! The Lord has definitely blessed you with a lot of talent.
Hey Michele, I'm so glad I'm finally going to be taking some "formal" oil painting classes with a lady who teaches the old masters style like you! Miss you! Karen Alford
Thank you Susanna, Katie and Karen. This is a favorite that hangs in my kitchen. I love to paint Camelia's. I planted several in my yard so I will have them to use in future paintings. Or maybe just to put in a vase to enjoy.
My desire is to enjoy God's creation while I paint. When painting fruit or flowers I notice how quickly things start to wither and fade. It is a clear reminder of the frailty of life. How a flower in a vase might change it's positon by turning or even dropping a petal. "Praise God", He never changes! His promises are true and sure. This perspective gives me an even greater admiration for my Creator and His beautiful creation.
I prefer to paint from "Still Life." It encourages me to finish a painting more quickly. I also take pictures to see how I am progressing or where I need to make improvements or corrections.
In my yard, I have many varieties of flowering trees and shrubs to choose from as subjects to paint. There is usually something blooming year round! I hope to capture "some" of what I see in my paintings and share with others.
